Emergency Services
NeNeighbor to Neighbor's Food Shelf Programs provide basic
food for participants who are experiencing an emergency situation.
Staff helps individuals address other emergency needs such
as utility shut off, eviction etc.
There are many factors that bring families to the Food Shelf
including:
- housing issues
- employment
barriers (loss of job, low wages)
- car repair
- rising cost
of heating
Neighbor to Neighbor's Food Shelves are located at the Fairview
Community Center in Roseville, the North End Multi Service
Center and at the Mount Airy Community Center in Saint Paul.
The Food Shelf Program is primarily funded by:
- individual
donations
- churches
- civic organizations
- corporations
- The United
Way
Neighbor to Neighbor also provides Crisis Counseling and
Information and Referral to participants who are in need
of these supportive services.
Each year in December, Neighbor to Neighbor sponsors The
Holiday Program which provides food and toy assistance
to low-income families during the winter holiday season.
Qualified families register through Operation Joy, a phone
bank that records requests and distributes names to participating
agencies by geographic service areas.
Neighbor to Neighbor receives donated toys from Toys for
Tots, Gifts for Teens and through the generosity of local
businesses, churches and individuals. Individual donations,
civic clubs, churches and corporations fund the Holiday Program.
