Job Title:
Family Worker
Overview:
This is a full-time position shared by two respected community
center organizations in St. Paul, Neighbor to Neighbor and
Neighborhood House. Both are multi-service non-profit organizations
that provide services in a wide range of settings utilizing
a full range of service delivery methods.
Organizational
Level: This exempt position
reports to the Director of Social Services. Compensation
is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
A flexible benefit package is provided. Summary: Provide
direct participant services including case management, support
services, counseling, and advocacy to families referred
by designated St. Paul Public Schools. Act as a liaison
between the agency, designated schools, Hmong parents and
community collaborations to increase involvement of parents
in school.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide case management and support services to families
with children experiencing chronic attendance and behavior
problems in schools.
- Provide communication and consultation with school social
workers, extended learning coordinators, teachers and
principals to coordinate services on behalf of children
and their families. Collaborate with school programming
as appropriate.
- Support and provide parenting education to families
of at-risk children in strengthening support systems at
home and in the community.
- Conduct home visits providing family assessments in
partnership with the family. Monitor follow-up actions,
and adjust plans accordingly.
- Provide information and referral for walk-ins at either
job site.
- Conduct intake for participants seeking emergency assistance.
- Maintain necessary records for services, agency planning,
and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social work, counseling, or human
services with two years experience.
- Experience with youth development, family systems, and
school systems
- Experience working with diverse ethnic and social-economic
backgrounds
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of community resources and outreach techniques
- Ability to balance multiple demands
- Hmong speaking
- Valid driver's license with reliable means of transportation
