$101,000 Grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation

President John Giovannini received some very good news in February. He had written a grant to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for general operations support. When he opened the letter from the foundation he was pleasantly surprised to find a check for $101,000. John, who always has something to say, was speechless. "This grant will go a long way to stabilize and support the important work we do," John said. He shares the credit for the grant with co-workers Jerry McElroy, Gale Ribar and Shirley Bachman.

Minnesota FoodShare Month Produces Great Results

Thanks to the support from churches, corporations, individuals and civic groups, Neighbor to Neighbor received 19,000 pounds of food and $11,000 to be used in the food shelf. This is proof that great communities can join together to produce great results. Thanks to everyone who gave so generously to help feed the hungry.

New Opportunity for Renae

It is with mixed feelings that Neighbor to Neighbor announces the resignation of Vice President Renae Oswald Anderson. Renae has accepted a job at Neighborhood House and began her new career on March 11. Renae was one of the founders of Neighbor to Neighbor and will be greatly missed.

On Friday, March 25, Phyllis Cohen passed away. Phyllis was a great supporter of Neighbor to Neighbor and volunteered three days a week creating charts, reports and mailing lists for the agency. She also served on the board of directors. In addition to her work at the agency, Phyllis volunteered for Honeywell and Ebenezer. We will miss her kind words, great advice, and a level of energy that was highly contagious. Phyllis would not want us to waste time grieving for her, because wasting time was the only thing this most tolerant of women could not tolerate.
